Jammu: A place of worship was allegedly vandalized by unidentified people in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, prompting protests by locals from both Hindu and Muslim communities on Sunday. The officers provided this information.

Deputy Commissioner Special Paul Mahajan said the police have taken cognizance of the incident and assured the protesters that strict action will be taken against the culprits.

A visitor found a place of worship damaged in a village in Dharmari area on Saturday evening, sparking tension and triggering spontaneous protests, with protesters demanding the identification and punishment of the culprits.

Members of both Hindu and Muslim communities jointly protested and said such incidents were a deliberate attempt to create a rift between them to damage the age-old brotherhood in the district.

The protesters blocked the main road in the district by burning tires and staging a sit-in, officials said, adding that senior police officials told them that an FIR had been registered and efforts were on to nab the culprits, after which they dispersed peacefully. -Spread out.

"Anyone trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere will not be spared. This is an attempt to disrupt and sabotage developmental activities apart from communal harmony."

"This is my guarantee... we will not tolerate any attempt to harm peace in the district," the deputy commissioner said.
