Mumbai, Hamingthanmawia Ralte, also known as Valpuia, has extended his contract with Mumbai City FC and will remain at the club till the summer of 2027.

The club announced in a release on Wednesday that Valpuia, who hails from Mizoram, has been a 'reliable player' at the club, being a part of the team's historic 2020-21 season, which also saw them win the ISL League Shield. ISL Cup.

He started playing football at the age of eight and made impressive progress at Aizawl FC, where Valpuia attracted the attention of Mumbai City FC, who brought him on board in June 2019.

Valpuia was loaned to RoundGlass Punjab FC for the 2022–23 season, where he remained a regular starter and helped the club achieve promotion to the ISL.

Valpuia also scored his first goal for MCFC on his return against Chennaiyin FC, helping the club secure a place in the Kalinga Super Cup semi-finals. He has played a total of 23 matches for MCFC, including 17 in the ISL.

“The club has played a vital role in my development as both a person and a player. The staff, teammates and coaches have continuously helped me improve my game and have shown unwavering faith in my abilities,” he said.

“Valpuia is one of the best talents at our club. He devotes a lot of time to training and developing his skills and I am continually impressed by his performances on the field. His commitment to improvement and his work ethic are commendable,” said MCFC head coach Petr Kratky.
