Beroun (Czech Republic), Vani Kapoor, who has shown flashes of form throughout the tournament this year but not across the course, fired a solid four-under 68 on the opening day of the Czech Ladies Open.

The round was still going on and Vani was tied at seventh place after six birdies and two bogeys.

Their opening round performance was the best among Indians, with Pranavi Urs and Diksha Dagar posting par scores through nine holes.

Amateur Avani Prashant shot 3-under and finished tied 18th. Others to complete their rounds were Ridhima Dilawari (2-under 70) and Taveesa Malik (1-under 71). Ridhima stood joint 30th and Tvesa stood joint 44th.

Welsh golfer Chloe Williams got off to a flying start with a bogey-free 9-under 63, while Finland's Sanna Nuutinen carded a 7-under 65 with five birdies and an eagle. Alexandra Swain finished third with a 6-under 66.

Defending champion Diksha Dagar was among the late starters in the preliminary round.

He started early and had birdies on the fifth and seventh but gave back both the leads on the eighth and ninth.

Vani made a great start by making birdies on the first two holes of the 10th hole. After this, there was a bogey in the 12th hole, but he again got birdies in the 14th and 15th holes.
