Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his maiden visit to Varanasi today released the 17th installment of PM-KISAN scheme worth over Rs 20,000 crore to about 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers.So far, more than 11 crore eligible farmer families have received benefits worth more than Rs. 3.04 lakh crore under PM-Kisan.

During the programme, the Prime Minister also presented certificates as Krishi Sakhis to over 30,000 women of Self Help Groups (SHGs).

To meet the financial needs of all land-holding farmers subject to certain exclusion criteria of high income status, PM-KISAN scheme was launched in 2019.A financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred to the bank accounts of farmer families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode in three equal installments every four months.

So far, over Rs 3.04 lakh crore has been paid to more than 11 crore farmers across the country and with this release, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore. .
