New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Health Department is using YouTube for continuous medical education and capacity building of government doctors posted in remote areas.

Partha Sarathi Sensharma, principal secretary, medical health and family welfare, said a YouTube channel - "Friday Ki Shyam, Doctors' Names" - has been started, where expert doctors give demo-cum-P presentations every Friday at 6 pm. Department.

“Although a few hundreds of doctors join them live, many watch the episodes later,” Sensharma said.

More than 15 episodes have already been broadcast and watched by thousands of doctors. The topics have been carefully selected to bridge the gap in knowledge – such as dealing with acute chest pain, diabetes, hypertension, acne and other skin diseases, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), etc.

“The idea is to leverage the reach and power of digital connectivity to enhance the skills and motivation of doctors working in provincial cities to improve healthcare delivery,” Sensharma said.
