Washington: The US will encourage India and Pakistan to avoid tensions and resolve their outstanding issues through dialogue and "will not intervene in the situation," a top State Department official has said.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, referring to New Delhi last week, had said that if terrorists try to disturb peace in India or carry out terrorist activities, they will be given a befitting reply and if they flee to Pakistan, India will send them to the neighboring country. Will enter and kill. Resolute approach to combat cross border terrorism.

State Department spokeswoman Matthew Miller, asked about those media reports on Monday, said: "We are following media reports about this issue. We have no comment on the allegations outlined.,

Miller said that while the US "is not going to get in the middle of this situation", it would "encourage both sides to avoid tensions and find solutions through dialogue".

Responding to Rajnath Singh's comments, Pakistan has criticized his inflammatory statement and said that it is firm on its intention and ability to protect its sovereignty.

A Foreign Office statement on 6 April said that Pakistan has always demonstrated its commitment to peace in the region but its desire for peace should not be misconstrued.

Criticizing India's ruling government for resorting to hateful rhetoric for electoral gains, the Pakistani Foreign Office said in a statement, "History bears testimony to Pakistan's determination and ability to defend itself."

Relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated after India abrogated Article 37 of the Constitution on August 5, 2019, revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and dividing the state into two union territories.India's decision drew a strong reaction from Pakistan, which downgraded diplomatic ties and expelled the Indian envoy. India has repeatedly told Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir "was, is and will always remain" an integral part of the country.

India has said that it desires normal neighborly relations with Pakistan in an environment free from terror, hostility and violence.
