Jaipur: There was uproar in the Rajasthan Assembly on Thursday over the state government's claim that cases of atrocities against women have declined during its six-month tenure.

During the Question Hour, Congress MLAs dissatisfied with the government's reply created a ruckus and raised slogans.

In response to the question of Congress MLA Indira Meena, Minister in-charge Gajendra Singh Khinvsar said that 20767 cases of atrocities on women have been registered in the state from January 1 to June 30. He said that compared to six months of the tenure, there was a six percent reduction in such cases during the previous Congress government.

The minister said, "There has been a six percent decline in such cases during this period. There has also been a decline in the cases of atrocities against women."

Giving information about the steps taken by the government to stop the incidents of harassment of women, he said, "Seven thousand four hundred places have been identified where there is more movement of women. Orders have been given to install 20,615 new CCTV cameras at the identified places. went." Throughout the state."

On this, the opposition created a ruckus by calling the comparison of cases by the minister wrong.

Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie said that the minister should not mislead the House as 2,861 cases were registered in April 2024 while 4,088 cases were registered in May.

"There has been an increase of about 43 per cent in a month. How are you talking about a six per cent decrease?" Julie said.

Dissatisfied with the minister's reply, Congress MLAs started raising slogans and came to the well. However, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani called the next question.
