Etawah (UP), Three criminals, who were being taken to Maharashtra on transit remand from a court in Pratapgarh, escaped by jumping from a moving train between Etawah and Ikdil station, police said on Monday.

He said that the incident took place on Monday morning in Pratapgarh-Bandra-Mumbai Express train (20942) when the police was taking the three accused on transit remand from a court in Pratapgarh to Maharashtra.

After the train stopped in Etawah, Maharashtra Police informed the local Government Railway Police (GRP) about the absconding accused.

Mohammed Anees, Rehan Farooqui and Akil Ahmed, residents of Pratapgarh district, were being taken to Nalasopara in Palghar district under the custody of the police team led by Sub Inspector Milind Tapde and Harshal Raus of Nalasopara police station in Palghar district of Maharashtra. by train from a court in Maharashtra's Pratapgarh on transit remand in various criminal cases including fraud and document tampering, Etawah GRP police station in-charge Shailesh Kumar Nigam said.

He told that according to the information received from Maharashtra Police, at 5.20 am on Monday, when the train was passing through Ikdil Railway Station, about five kilometers away from Etawah Railway Station, the three criminals pushed the policemen and jumped from the moving train. along with the handcuffs and ran away.

The corporation said that when the train stopped at Etawah railway station, Maharashtra Police informed the GRP in-charge of Etawah about the incident and efforts are on to trace the accused persons.
