Ballia (UP) The statue of Army jawan Girdhari Prajapati, who was killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir in 2013, was vandalized by an unidentified person in a village here, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the statue was damaged in Bakwa Darao village on April 14.
In a police complaint, Brij Vilas Prajapati said he had gone to clean his son's idol and light a lamp there on the evening of April 14 when he found the idol damaged.
On the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against unknown people and investigation has been started.
Girdhari Prajapati, a resident of Bakwa, was one of the eight army personnel killed in the deadly attack by terrorists in Hyderpora, Srinagar in June 2013.
According to the police, the statue was damaged in Bakwa Darao village on April 14.
