Bareilly (UP), Uttar Pradesh's Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) team on Saturday arrested a police personnel for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The officers provided this information.

He said that the accused has been identified as Jitendra Singh who was posted at Shishgarh police station in Bareilly district and was in-charge of Banjariya police post.

Yashpal Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bareilly Division, Anti Corruption Organization, said that the matter came to light when a person named Hamid Ali told that he had gone to Shishgarh police station to lodge a complaint against his brother.

But Singh demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000, which Ali rejected, the DSP said.

This enraged Singh, he said, and he lodged an FIR against Ali under sections 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Singh then demanded Rs 10,000 from Ali to file a 'final report' in the case. After this, Ali contacted ACO, DSP.

The police officer said that taking cognizance of Hamid Ali's complaint, the team of anti-corruption organization, as part of a strategy, on Saturday arrested outpost in-charge Jitendra Singh red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in the outpost itself. Afternoon.

A case has been registered against Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway, the officer said.
