A man here allegedly murdered his one-year-old son on suspicion that he was not the child's father, police said on Saturday.
Police arrested the man following a complaint by his wife, who found the child unconscious on Thursday.
He said that the child was taken to the hospital where he died during treatment.
Rupaidiha police station SHO Samsher Bahadur Singh said, "The mother has accused her husband Sujit of murder. The minor's body has been sent for post-mortem."
Based on the complaint, the police on Friday registered an FIR against Sujeet under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder) and arrested him, the SHO said.
He said, "As per preliminary investigation, it was found that Sujeet had doubts about his wife's fidelity and he used to say that the minor boy was not his child, hence he killed her. The case is under investigation."
