Sultanpur (UP): A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man from her village here on Friday, police said.
He said that the accused was identified as Virendra Chauhan (47).
SHO Satendra Kumar Singh said that the incident happened when the girl, while playing outside her house, went towards a garden. Chauhan lured the girl to a field where he raped her.
Meanwhile, when she did not return home her parents searched for her. They found him unconscious and covered in blood in a field, Singh said.
They took her to the hospital where medical examination confirmed rape, he said.
He said that he was then referred to another hospital for better treatment.
Based on the complaint of the victim's father, the police have registered a case under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) of rape and arrested Chauhan, the SHO said.
The station in-charge said that he was produced in the court, from where he was sent to jail.
