Lucknow, educating someone is considered the most sacred job in the Srimad Bhagwat Gita and we must fulfill this duty as it is the greatest service to the country, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday.

Adityanath made the remarks while he was addressing a function to honor meritorious students of the state here.

Congratulating the students, he said, "There is no greater honor for a Guru than to see those whom he has guided attain high positions in the country, state and district."

Students of CBSE, CISCE, UP Secondary Education and UP Board of Secondary Sanskrit Education were honored during the function.

Of the total 170 students, 112 girls made it to the high school and middle school merit list adding that more attention should be paid to their education and development.

Highlighting the launch of various programs by the Basic Education Council, he said, "Under these initiatives, Rs 1,200 per student has been disbursed to the bank accounts of parents of over 88 lakh students."

Adityanath also emphasized that the government is providing certificates, tablets and Rs 1 lakh cash to all these meritorious students.

He also announced that the roads in the towns or localities where these students reside will be named after him or that the government will undertake road construction projects in his honor.

They will also have the opportunity to lay the foundation for these initiatives together with the MLA and MP.

Reflecting on the state of education under previous governments, the UP CM said, "Before 2017, just as the government lived in darkness, it also allowed education to languish in darkness. Today, we have successfully conducted copyless examinations in 12 days in a fair manner and the results will be available within 14 days."

Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, Secondary Education Department Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Basic Education Department Principal Secretary MKS Sundaram and Director General School Education , Kanchan Verma, were present at the event, among others.
