Lucknow, In a bid to make Uttar Pradesh a trillion-dollar economy, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved a proposal to frame a law on Special Investment Regions (SIR) to attract huge investments in the state.

This proposal to introduce legislation in SIR was approved in the cabinet meeting held under the Lok Bhavan chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The proposal was named NIRMAN (Nodal Investment Region for Manufacturing) and will become an Act, an official said.

In this way, big investors of the country and the world can be attracted to invest in UP, he said.

The official also said that as per the proposal, at least four such SIRs will be created in UP, which will be in the four geographical areas of the state. He said the state has about 20 thousand acres of land bank available.

He said that according to the proposal approved by the UP cabinet, at least four such SIRs will be created in UP, which will be in the four geographical areas of the state.

This decision of the government will promote ease of doing business. Along with this, economic development will gain momentum and the general public will get new employment opportunities, he said.

The official said this type of law is currently in force in three states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka. Thus, UP will become the fourth state to implement such a law.

He said SIRs are important investment regions where cluster development takes place and the power vested in the state government or other departments is decentralized at the authority level.

The official said that the purpose of the state government in issuing a law in this regard is to create large investment regions and provide them with legal protection.

He said that for UP's goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy, it is necessary for the state to create large investment regions. He said that so far the State has not set the minimum limit of land for investment in the Law.

But just as the UP created the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority, for which an area of 5,000 hectares was reserved, a large area will also be maintained in the SIR, he said.

In order to promote a favorable environment for industrial investment in the state, the cabinet also approved the proposal for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Parliamentary Minister Suresh Khanna said that on the lines of Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, a large convention center or multi-purpose hall will be built in Lucknow and Varanasi where people associated with MSMEs will be able to showcase their products.

"Through this, not only industrial investment will be promoted but people associated with MSMEs will also be encouraged. MSME production in the state will get a big boost with this," Khanna said.

National and international trade fairs are continuously organized at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Now such events will also be possible in UP, he said.

The UP cabinet also approved the proposal to temporarily employ 2,200 teachers, who were removed from service in 2023 by order of the Supreme Court, in exchange for fees in secondary schools not subsidized by the government.

Khanna said teaching posts are vacant in non-government subsidized secondary schools, which is affecting teaching work.

"In such a situation, to carry out educational work smoothly, more than 2,200 teachers who were relieved of service by the order of the Supreme Court in 2023 have the opportunity to be re-appointed with a temporary honorarium of between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. The teachers that "Those who will teach in classes 9 and 10 will receive Rs 25,000 and those who will teach in classes 11 and 12 will receive Rs 30,000," he added.
