Chandigarh, Congress's Chandigarh Lok Sabha candidate, Manish Tewari, Tuesday said unlike the BJP's "jumlas" (rhetoric), his party's approach is welfare-centric, touching all sections of the society, including youth, women workers and farmers.

He claimed that after the completion of the third phase of voting, it is now clear that the BJP has already been 'wiped' and a formal announcement will be made on June 4 after the counting of votes.

“The writing is on the wall that BJP is going to be out of power,” he said.

Interacting with residents, businessmen, traders, shopkeepers, government employees and private employees during his padyatra in Sector 35 here, Tiwari spoke about some of the "guarantees" made by the Congress to the people of the country, especially Regulation of providing jobs to the unemployed and monthly financial assistance to poor families.

He claimed that at present unemployment in the country is the highest in 4 years.

Under the 'Pehli Naukri Pakki' (first guaranteed job) scheme, every graduate and diploma holder across the country will get a one-year apprenticeship with a guaranteed income of Rs 1 lakh, the former Union minister said.

"Only such revolutionary steps can help the 70 crore unemployed people in the country," he said.

Tiwari said every poor family across the country will get Rs 8,500 per month.

“The amount will be deposited directly into the bank account of the largest member,” he said.

Only measures where the benefits are target-oriented can help provide relief to the people, he said.

He said, "During the last 10 years, people have seen only backbreaking inflation and massive unemployment and the BJP still has nothing to alleviate the suffering of the people except giving 'jumle after jumle'."

Voting for the lone Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat will be held in the last phase on June 1.
