Haridwar, After the video of distributing beer in the restricted area went viral on social media, a YouTuber from Uttarakhand was taken into custody by the police and made to issue a public apology.

Ankur Choudhary, a resident of Sidkul area here, was detained, fined and asked to publicly apologize for his conduct, police said.

He said that two days ago, a video was circulated on social media in which Choudhary was seen distributing free beer in Kankhal area to "increase subscribers" on his Instagram channel.

There is a ban on consumption of meat and liquor in Kankhal area of ​​Haridwar.

The video titled 'Beer Challenge' sparked anger among the residents of the holy city and the pilgrim priests demanded strict action against the YouTuber.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the police took Chaudhary into custody. After this he apologized to the people for openly distributing free beer in the area and said that such mistake will not be repeated in future.

Chaudhary, who holds a law degree, was also fined under the Police Act.

Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Doval said that Haridwar is a center of religious faith and such actions will not be tolerated here under any circumstances.
