Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that the country will have to see "dark days" if the Modi government is not defeated.

Speaking about the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Thackeray, in an interview published in the Sunday edition of his party mouthpiece 'Saamana', said that the people of India will decide the future of their leaders.

He claimed, "If the present government is defeated then the future of the country will be peaceful and democracy will flourish... otherwise the country will have to see dark days. Good days have never come, but dark days will come..." He claimed.

The former Maharashtra chief minister also alleged that the security of the corrupt is a "Modi guarantee".

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader claimed that all other political parties and corrupt people are being wiped out from the country as the BJP has included them in its fold and assured them of security.

He said, "BJP is inducting all the corrupt people like a vacuum cleaner which sucks the dust and dirt. Congress, Shiv Sena and the entire country has become free from corrupt people."

Asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches during the election campaign, Thackeray said, "His (Prime Minister's) speeches talk about Pakistan while the opposition talks about India."

The former CM also accused the BJP of "bringing Lord Ram" into the election discussion as the ruling party has nothing to project in terms of development.
