Nagpur: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday highlighted Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray's criticism of the budget, saying Uddhav Thackeray himself had once admitted that he did not understand it.

Speaking to reporters at the airport here, Fadnavis said the Budget 2024-25 presented in the Assembly by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar earlier in the day brings happiness to all sections of the society with various welfare schemes.

Thackeray had described the Maharashtra Budget as a "blur of assurances" and a "false narrative" pretending to give something to every section of the society.

"Uddhav Thackeray had earlier said, and that too on the stage, that he did not understand the budget. When he has said something like this, there is no need to react to his remarks," Fadnavis said.

Responding to a question, the Deputy CM said cotton and soybean farmers, most of whom are from Vidarbha, will get relief from the budget announcements and the financial assistance will be deposited directly into their bank accounts.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader said that for them the decision on DBT was taken earlier, but it could not be implemented due to the Model Code of Conduct in force for the Lok Sabha elections.

"Dairy farmers will get subsidy of Rs 5 per liter. Chief Minister Ladki Bahin Yojana, provision of three free gas cylinders, stipend of Rs 10,000 for youth etc. have given happiness to all sections of the society. CM and Finance Minister have given a lot Is." Good budget,” he said.
