Abu Dhabi [UAE], Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, met with Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

During the working dinner, Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Mekdad's visit and discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Syria in various fields, including development, to serve the mutual interests of the two countries.

Sheikh Abdullah stressed the long-standing UAE-Syria brotherly ties and underlined their mutual commitment to promoting cooperation for the benefit of their peoples. He also wished for Syria's security, stability and further development and prosperity.

The Ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of collective Arab efforts in promoting lasting stability and meeting the developmental aspirations of the region's populations.

The meeting was attended by Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, and Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, UAE Ambassador to Syria.
