Abu Dhabi [UAE], The UAE Cabinet has approved a AED2 billion package to compensate citizens for the damage caused to their homes during the recent severe weather conditions. A ministerial committee has been tasked with assessing damages and distributing compensation in coordination with federal and local governments. Officials made the announcement on Wednesday during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The Cabinet appreciated the efforts of the government and emergency response teams, as well as volunteers and the public in dealing with it. Coming together to overcome challenges and for the sake of the nation, Sheikh Mohammed said, “We have approved the allocation of AED2 billion to compensate for the damage caused to citizens' homes.A ministerial committee has been entrusted with the task of overseeing this file. With follow-up and the support of my brother, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, life quickly returned to normal. He said, "We constituted a committee to assess the damage caused to infrastructure by floods and rains and propose solutions and measures at the national level. The committee is chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and includes Defense Minister The operations room, comprising the Ministry of Interior, the National Emergency and Disaster Management Authority and other federal entities, as well as representatives from all seven emirates, deployed security, emergency and interior personnel to manage the consequences of this extraordinary weather event.
