After its landfall around 0:55 am, Malikisi weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression.

However, southern Guangdong received heavy rainfall from Friday morning to Saturday morning, with the Leizhou Peninsula recording the highest cumulative rainfall of 272.3 mm, Xinhua news agency reported.

As of 6:52 a.m. Saturday, a total of 28 typhoon warning signals were active in Guangdong.

Heavy rainfall also affected the eastern provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi.

Zhejiang initiated Level-IV emergency response for flood control at 1 p.m. o Saturday in response to heavy rainfall caused by the storm. The province has received moderate to heavy rain since Friday.
