ABT is an affiliate of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), which is banned in India along with all its affiliated groups.

According to officials, Bahar is a resident of Brahmanbaria district, while Rarely is from Netrokona district of Bangladesh. They were allegedly living in India illegally without a passport to spread terror in Assam.

Documents including Aadhaar and PAN cards were recovered from their possession, which are suspected to be fake.

“These cadres visited Guwahati to mobilize and radicalize the gullible Muslim youth of Assam and India to join the terrorist organization and engage in terrorist acts,” a police statement said.

It said a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Passport Act, 1920, Foreigners Act, 1946.
