Pune Police teams swooped on Liquid Leisure Lounge (L3) in the posh neighborhood of Fergusson College Road after a video surfaced on social media showing a couple of minor boys consuming drugs in the restroom of the restaurant with a rock party in the background, early on Sunday.

Following a ruckus, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar ordered an investigation and a police team swooped on L3 last night and carried out a thorough search operation, following which they sealed the premises early today.

A police officer told reporters that according to available information, the establishment would close the main entrance at 1:30, but would allow sneak entry through the back door and the party continued practically until dawn, of which videos were leaked.

The police also detained L3 owner Santosh Kamthe, franchisee Ravi Maheshwari, manager Manas Malik and a couple of employees, Utkarsh Deshmane and Yogendra Girafe, who will be produced before a Pune magistrate court today, an official said.

At the same time, the Pune police have cracked down on two of its police officers, including a police inspector and an assistant police inspector, for alleged dereliction of duty, as the establishment under their jurisdiction blatantly flouted rules and police officers. They turned a blind eye to the events. right under their noses.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the matter was serious and promised rigorous efforts to make Pune and the rest of Maharashtra drug-free.

Newly elected Pune MP and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar K. Mohol said such incidents were giving a bad image to Pune and assured that strong action would be taken.

NCP (SP) state president Jayanti Patil along with the other two opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) demanded the resignation of deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis over what they claimed was the total collapse of the law and order situation in the state.

Congress MP Ravindra Dhangekar and Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sushma Andhare criticized the regime for the spate of crimes that have rocked Pune in the last few months with the state government failing to check the fall despite the huge anger among the people.
