Bijapur: Two Naxalites were arrested on Thursday from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, one of whom was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Police gave this information.
Hemla Hunga (41) and Punem Budhru (40) were caught by a team of Central Reserve Police Force, its elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) and personnel from the district force during a search in a forest between Bugdicheru and . Gundam village, a police officer said.
Hunga was active as the chief of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (DAKMS), the leading wing of the Naxalites, and had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on him, while Budhru was an "improvised explosive device (IED) expert", he said.
He said the two were allegedly involved in an attack on a police team in Pegdapall area of the district in April 2022.
