With this the total number of people arrested so far has reached four.

State police sources identified the two men as Abdul Rauf and Taherul Islam. Both are co-accused in the assault case. He was seen in the same video carrying the main accused, local Trinamool Congress leader Tejemul alias JCB.

In the video, JCB is seen beating the woman brutally.

On Sunday evening, just hours after the video went viral, JCB was arrested and sent to five-day police custody the next day.

On Wednesday, the police arrested the second accused Budha Mohammad.

The Chopra incident was also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech in Parliament, who criticized the Indian faction's allies for remaining silent on the matter.

A member of the National Commission for Women (NCW) also reached Chopra and talked to the victim. Governor C.V. Anand Bose also launched a scathing attack on the state administration for failing to prevent such an incident.

Trinamool Congress has censored party MLA from Chopra, Hamidul Rehman, for his initial comments where he tried to downplay the incident after the video went viral. The party leadership has also directed all panchayat heads and local club officials in Chopra to keep a strict vigil on such kangaroo courts.
