New Delhi: Two boys drowned in waterlogging at an underpass in SP Badali area of ​​outer North Delhi on Saturday afternoon, a day after heavy rains lashed the city.

A senior police officer said the incident took place near the Siraspur underpass near the metro, which was flooded with 2.5-3 feet of water.

Police received information about the boys drowning at around 2.25 pm and a team was immediately sent to the spot. They launched a search operation and recovered the bodies with the help of the fire brigade, the officer said.

He told that one boy is a resident of Siraspur, while the identity of the other has not been established yet.

Another officer said, prima facie, it appears to be a case of suspicious drowning of the boys while bathing.

The bodies have been taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. He said that investigation proceedings are going on under 174 Code of Criminal Procedure.
