New Delhi: Two people have been arrested for stealing 318 brand new Apple iPhones worth Rs 3.5 crore from a warehouse in Delhi's Mahipalpur, officials said on Tuesday.

He said that the accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh (31) of Bamnoli village in Delhi and Sachin (25) of Panchkula in Haryana.

An FIR was registered on the complaint of Rameshwar Singh regarding the theft of a brand new Apple iPhone from his warehouse in Mahipalpur, Delhi on June 17. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Rohit Meena said the iPhones were to be sent to various distributors in North India.

He told that the value of the stolen phone was estimated at Rs 3.5 crore.

An FIR was registered and a team was formed. The officer said that during the investigation, CCTV camera footage was analyzed and the suspects were detained.

Singh, who was employed as a driver by the complainant, was absconding and his mobile phone was found switched off.

"We learned that the accused had taken the bag to the complainant's vehicle, which was equipped with a GPS," Meena said.

Police teams traced the vehicle, which was found abandoned in Samalkha village in Haryana.

As soon as the investigation yielded clues in Panchkula, a team was sent there and raids were conducted at several possible locations.

Meena said, "Our team arrested Singh along with his associate Sachin from Panchkula. The team recovered seven stolen iPhones from their possession. The house of main accused Mandeep Singh in Bamnoli, Delhi was raided and 311 phones were recovered. were done."

Singh revealed that after covering some distance he removed the GPS from the vehicle.

"He went back to the place where he had removed the GPS and fixed the system before dropping him in Samalkha. He did all this to prevent the police from locating him," the officer said.
