Sukma/Bijapur, Police officials said that twelve Naxalites were arrested from Sukma and Bijapur districts of Chhattisgarh on Monday.

Superintendent of Police Kiran G Chavan said that nine Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs 11 lakh were caught in Sukma.

“Five others, including Madvi Ayata alias Sukhram, female militants Kalmu Deve, Sodhi Ayata, Madkam Bheem and another woman, were caught by a team of District Reserve Guard, 212th and 21st battalions from the forest of Palod village in Kistaram. The 208th battalion of the Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its elite unit CoBRA,” he said.

Sukhram, who had a bounty of Rs 8 lakh on his head, is part of the Central Regional Command of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), while Deve, who had a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his head, is a mandal committee member of the organisation.' He told that South Bastar division.

Another official said that three Naxalites, including a woman, were caught in Bijapur with a tiffy bomb, a detonator, batteries, detonator cord and other items.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said, "Sukku Kunjam, Pakli Oyam and Deepika Avalam alias Reena were caught from Korcholi forest by the District Reserve Guard, local police and 85th battalion of CRPF."
