Rotkreuz (Switzerland), India's Tvesa Malik made a solid start at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open as she carded 3-under 68 in the opening round of the Ladies European Tour event here.

Although the first round was not completed, Tvesa, making a comeback from poor form, had four birdies and one bogey at Golfpark Holzhausen.

Among the Indians in the field, only Sahar Atwal finished at 6-over 77, while Vaani Kapoor, Ridhima Dilawari and Amandeep Dral had just started their rounds.

This week, India's leading stars Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs are taking a break.

Kirsten Rudgely of Australia and Caroline Hedwall of Sweden shared the early lead with 5-under 66. Ten players, including Tvesa, were 3-under and some had yet to complete their first round.

Tvesa got off to an early start on the 10th and birdied the 11th and 15th, both par-3s, with excellent tee shots.

He made a third birdie on the third hole before making his first bogey on the seventh hole, but got that shot back on the ninth hole, which was his final hole.

Players who ended their first round with 68 included former Hero Women's Indian Open winner Christine Wolf, Switzerland's Kim Metroux, Sweden's Lisa Pettersson and England's Alice Hewson. or ssc
