Rotkreuz (Switzerland), India's Tvesa Malik played her heart out in a first-round 5-under 66 to reach the Swiss Ladies Open play-off before falling to Alice Hewson (65) at 11 under here.

In the play-off Tvesa went to the fairway, and Alison was also in the fairway, but Tvesa was in a bad position and with little green left to play.

Alice was almost 80 yards off the tee when Tvesa's drive likely clipped a tree branch.

When Alice hit the green within 8 to 10 feet, Tvesa missed the green and the English golfer won on the first extra hole.

Tvesa's final round of 66 followed rounds of 68-68 in the first two rounds.

Tvesa had an electric finish on the final four holes as she closed with a birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie finish on the final four holes, which she played at 5 under par.

She got off to a bogey start, but recovered that shot in the fifth, and then came nine pars before closing brilliantly.

After a string of nine pars, Tvesa made her second birdie on the par-3 15th, followed by a birdie on the par-5 16th. Then came the final two holes.

Alice, playing with a group ahead, also had a spectacular finish. She birdied the 15th, but only made a par on the par-5 16th.

On a course that had back-to-back par 5s, she eagled the par-5 17th and closed with a birdie on the 18th to advance to 11 under.

Tvesa, who was playing in the penultimate group, birdied the 15th and 16th and was 8 under par. She then came the crucial Par 5 on the 17th.

Tvesa, who had an eagle two in the second round, hit her second eagle in that decisive moment on the 457-yard, Par-5 17th hole.

It came amid a flurry of birdies.

When she got to the 18th tee, she was still one shot behind and needed a birdie to force a play, and she responded magnificently with a birdie to catch Alice Hewson at 11 under par.

The other Indians were Vani Kapoor, who finished T-35 from T-4 overnight, and Ridhima Dilawari, who finished T-62.

Tvesa played one of his best rounds, especially towards the closing stages, when he raced to 5-under 66 and jumped from 6-under after two rounds to 11-under 202.

He joined Alice Hewson (65), who had previously set the clubhouse target at 11 under par.

Tvesa's previous best was second place at the Gant Ladies Open in Finland in 2021.

Earlier this year, Tvesa won the Sunshine Tour's SuperSport Challenge in South Africa.

After losing her playing rights on the Tour last year, Tvesa played the first part of the season, playing with invitations, and then her results earned a new higher ranking, allowing her to gain more entries. .

She finished T-10, her first Top-10 of the season at the Helsingborg Open in Sweden earlier in the season.

Lauren Walsh and Fátima Fernández Canó finished tied for third place at 8 under par. orr AYG UNG
