New Delhi: Swedish caller identification app Truecaller and Gurugram Police have joined hands to collectively work towards establishing a safe cyberspace for citizens and combating cyber crime, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The joint statement said Truecaller, in collaboration with Gurugram Police, will conduct CyberWise training sessions to educate citizens on how to prevent cyber fraud and report online losses.

Additionally, Truecaller has expanded its government directory services in Gurugram by including verified police contact numbers to combat impersonation fraud.

"This integration will enable users to easily identify verified numbers, reducing the risk of falling victim to an impersonation scam," the statement said.

It further said that Truecaller and Gurugram Police will support the excellent Society for Safety, a non-profit initiative of Haryana Police.

"The current challenges of cyber fraud are worrying, as Gurugram Police receives around 100-120 complaints every day, with an average monthly loss of Rs 4 crore due to cyber fraud," said Sidhant Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber ​​Staff), South. Gurugram.

Truecaller has previously tied up with Delhi and Assam police to tackle online fraud.
