New Delhi: Caller identification app Truecaller on Thursday said it has collaborated with general insurer HDFC ERGO for an offering that aims to protect customers against digital communication fraud in India.

Truecaller said in a release that amid rising cases of cyber fraud, the insurance offering underlines its commitment to combat fraud and ensure user security through advanced app features before, during and after mobile communications.

The release said a recent report by the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center showed that digital financial fraud has increased by Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the last three years.

Announcing the collaboration with HDFC ERGO to offer this insurance to its customers, the release said that this product will provide coverage up to Rs 10,000 to Android and iOS users across India.

"This product is available to Truecaller's annual premium customers and all existing customers can avail this protection for free under their existing plans," it said.

According to the company, to ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience for all users, fraud coverage has been seamlessly integrated into the Truecaller app, and is activated once the user selects the insurance option.
