According to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), passenger and freight services in the region have been affected since April 25 due to damage to railway tracks caused by massive landslides following heavy rains in the hilly Dima Hasao district, which connects the southern Is. Assam Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram.

Officials said that Chief Minister Saha has written a letter to the Railway Minister requesting him to expedite the resumption of passenger and goods train services.

“The Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation. He has asked state officials to maintain close contact with NFR engineers and officials to know the progress of the ongoing work,” said an official.

Hundreds of staff and technicians, led by railway engineers, are working round the clock to restore train services between Jatinga-Lumpur and Ne Harangajao stations under the Lumding division of the NFR.

Given the weak railway track and soil in the area, NFR is not operating trains during day time only on the hilly route.
