The BSF said in a statement that the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a large group of Bangladeshi miscreants who crossed the border illegally gathered near the fence.

"On June 2, BSF Constable Bhole was performing OP duty at India Bangladesh Border Fence Gate No. 196 in the area of ​​Border Post Kalamcherra of 150 Battalion BSF and was assigned the task of manning the fence gate. At about 13:30 hrs, A large group of Bangladeshi miscreants gathered near the fence gate to illegally cross the IB and smuggle sugar, the BSF said in a release.

BSF further said that Bangladeshi miscreants used foul language and obscene gestures and also snatched the weapon of the BSF constable along with the radio set.

“Moreover, he started using abusive language and instigated the BSF constable on duty with provocative language and obscene gestures.Constables entered beyond the fence through the gate to disperse the innocent miscreants and stop the smuggling. “Bangladeshi miscreants surrounded and attacked CT Bhole and attempted to drag him towards Bangladesh,” the BSF said.

"They also snatched his personal weapon along with the radio set. CT Bhole managed to escape, however, he was attacked with bamboo sticks and iron rods, due to which he suffered serious injuries," he said.
