Hisar, traders closed their shops on Friday in Hansi town, about 26 km from here, to protest against the killing of JJP leader and two-wheeler dealership owner Ravindra Saini (50).

Saini was shot dead in broad daylight outside his showroom on Hisar road on Wednesday night.

All shops remained closed as part of the one-day bandh called by traders and social organisations.

The traders demanded the arrest of the killers, along with compensation of Rs 1 million for the victim's family and a government job for a family member.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased remained this Friday for the third day in the Civil Hospital morgue, since his relatives refused to take the body for the last rites. They say they will not take the body until the killers are arrested.

The family members of the deceased also held a dharna outside the Civil Hospital premises.

The Hansi police on Thursday arrested Vikas alias Vicky Nehra, a resident of Rohtak district and the alleged mastermind of the murder. However, merchants claim that the killers are still at large.

Saini was shot by three men who approached on foot moments after he left the showroom.

CCTV footage showed another person waiting on a motorcycle near the showroom. The three boarded the two-wheeler after the attack and escaped.

Meanwhile, shops in all major areas including Pratap Bazaar, Umra Gate, Badsi Gate, cloth market and Bus Stand Road market remained closed.

The merchants, joined by various sectors of society, also held a procession in several markets raising slogans and demanding the immediate arrest of the criminals.

On Thursday afternoon, several people, including family members of the deceased, blocked the Geeta Chowk crossing situated on the Hisar-Delhi national highway.

According to Hansi Superintendent of Police Maqsood Ahmed, five teams have been formed and are carrying out raids.

Haryana Pradesh Beopar Mandal President Bajrang Dass Garg on Friday alleged that the state government has failed to stop criminal incidents. "There is an atmosphere of fear among traders and the general public due to criminal incidents occurring every day in the state," he said.

Opposition parties in Haryana recently criticized the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government over the law and order situation in the state.
