New Delhi [India], Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday will release the 17th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, through which an amount of over Rs 20,000 crore will be distributed to about 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers. Since its inception, the PM-KISAN scheme has disbursed over Rs 3.04 lakh crore to over 11 crore eligible farmer families, underscoring its substantial impact and wide-ranging benefits.

According to a press release, PM Modi is set to launch several important initiatives during his upcoming visit to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on June 18-19.

At the event, the Prime Minister will provide certificates to more than 30,000 women of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) officially recognizing them as Krishi Sakhis.These women will play a key role in the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP), which aims to transform rural India by empowering women as para-extension workers. This certification is in line with the objectives of the “Lakhpati Didi” program which aims to increase economic self-reliance among rural women.

On June 19, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar. According to the press release, the university, a collaborative project between India and the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries, will have modern facilities and significant capacity.

The new campus has two academic blocks each with 40 classrooms, which can accommodate approximately 1,900 students, and two auditoriums with a capacity of 300 seats each.

Additionally, the campus has a student hostel for approximately 550 students and several other facilities, such as an International Centre, an amphitheater with a capacity of 2,000 persons, a faculty club and a sports complex.The Nalanda campus is designed as a "net zero" green facility, consisting of a solar plant, water treatment plants for domestic and drinking purposes, a water recycling system and 100 acres of water bodies. These initiatives ensure sustainability and minimal environmental impact on the campus. The press release said this modern campus revives the historical legacy of the original Nalanda University, which was established approximately 1,600 years ago and is considered one of the first residential universities in the world.

The ruins of the ancient university were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.

Prime Minister Modi's Uttar Pradesh tour will start at 5 pm on June 18, he will participate in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan organized for the farming community in Varanasi.

Later in the evening, he will attend Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and at around 8 pm will go to Kashi Vishwanath Temple for darshan and worship.On June 19, the Prime Minister will continue his programs in Bihar, starting with a visit to the ruins of Nalanda at 9:45 am.
