Chennai, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday refused to comment on the possibility of the Central government extending the tenure of Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi as his five-year term is about to end.

Speaking to reporters here, when Stalin was asked about claims that Ravi was likely to continue in the post, he said, "I am neither the President nor the Prime Minister."

Ravi, who took charge as the Governor of Nagaland on August 1, 2019, was transferred to Tamil Nadu in 2021. He took office as the 26th Governor of Tamil Nadu on September 18, 2021.

According to the Constitution, a Governor holds office until the pleasure of the President. Subject to such provisions, a Governor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date he enters upon his office.

On the Wayanad landslide, Stalin said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told him (on July 30) that there was extensive damage in Wayanad and it could not be assessed yet. He said the Tamil Nadu government has sent a medical team led by two IAS officers to assist Kerala.
