Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Monday recorded an overall pass percentage of 94.56 per cent in the Class 12 board exams 2024, slightly higher than last year's 94.03 per cent.

According to the Class 12 exam results declared at the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) campus here, a total of 7,19,19 students out of 7,60,606 who appeared in the board exams in March this year have passed.

Girls outnumbered boys with 96.44 per cent (3,93,89 candidates) passing, while 92.37 per cent boys (3,25,305) passed the exam and third gender: 1 (100 per cent).

A total of 2,478 schools (out of 7,532 schools from where students took the exam) have achieved 100 per cent results – all the candidates who appeared for the exam have passed the paper. Of these, 397 were government schools.

2,587 students in Mathematics, 633 students in Physics and 471 students in Chemistry achieved Centum score.

To pass the exam, students have to score 35 marks out of 100 in each subject.

Erode topped the districts scoring 94.56 per cent while Chennai recorded almost 94 per cent.
