Kolkata: The ruling Trinamool Congress on Friday announced candidates for the by-elections to four assembly seats in West Bengal on July 10.

The Mamata Banerjee-led party has fielded Krishna Kalyani from Raiganj seat and Mukut Mani Adhikari from Ranaghat-South constituency.

Supti Pandey, widow of former TMC MLA Sadhan Pandey, has been fielded from Maniktala seat in Kolkata, while Madhuparna Thakur has been made the candidate from Matua-dominated Bagda seat.

Raiganj and Ranaghat assembly constituencies fell vacant after both Kalyani and Adhikari, BJP MLAs, defected to TMC and failed in the Lok Sabha elections.

Maniktala seat became vacant after the death of Sadhan Pandey in 2022.

Bagda's sitting BJP MLA Biswajit Das had switched to TMC and contested from Bangaon Lok Sabha seat, but was unsuccessful.
