New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said elaborate security arrangements have been made in Parliament, which may cause inconvenience to visitors, to ensure that incidents like last year's security breach are not repeated.

On December 13, when the House was in session, two persons jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber and released smoke.

Asked about the security measures taken in the wake of the December 13 security breach, Birla said, "We have put in place elaborate security arrangements to ensure that such incidents do not happen again."

"We have used the latest technology to strengthen security. There may be some inconvenience to visitors to Parliament. But we have adopted strict guidelines to secure Parliament for the future," Birla said.

Last year, on this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the new Parliament House.

"Last year, more than 80,000 people have come to visit Parliament, people from different walks of life including defense personnel, farmers scientists and others have visited Parliament," he said.

Birla said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the people to see the new Parliament and in future people from all over the world will come to see this temple of democracy.
