Amaravati, India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted storm with lightning in parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days from July 2 to 6.

There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers over parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema.

Strong winds up to speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour (km/h) are predicted in these areas.

"Southwest Monsoon has advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab today, July 2. Thus, it has advanced over the entire country on July 2 against the normal date of July 8," the weather department said in a press release. Has arrived." ,

According to the Meteorological Department, the south-west monsoon has covered the entire country six days ago.

Lower tropospheric south-westerly and westerly winds dominate over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Meanwhile, the weather department said Andhra Pradesh received 'very high' rainfall in the month of June, giving a monthly cumulative rainfall of 152.1 mm, which is 62 per cent more than the normal cumulative rainfall of 94.1 mm.

Unlike the coastal Andhra Pradesh region, which received only 'excessive' rainfall cumulatively, the entire Rayalaseema region received 'extreme excess' rainfall in June.

'Heavy' rainfall occurred in Anantapur, Annamayya, Chittoor, Kurnool, Nandyala, Sri Sathyasai, Tirupati and Cuddapah districts of Rayalaseema.
