New Delhi [India]: Ajay Tamta, the newly elected Lok Sabha member from Uttarakhand constituency, on Sunday said he feels "fortunate" to be included in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new ministerial team.

Tamta, who attended the High Tea organized at the Prime Minister's residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, told ANI today, "I consider myself fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with the Prime Minister. Asked if she had any special demands for the ministry, Tamta replied, "Earlier also, I have had the opportunity to work for various ministries. Even before 2019, I had the pleasure of working with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Got the opportunity.,

In response to the opposition's claims of a "bad NDA government", Tamta said, "I do not find it necessary to answer to the opposition. Our party, our allies and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are all committed to our work."

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Tamta won the Almora reserved parliamentary seat against Congress party's Pradeep Tamta by a margin of 234,097 votes.

Tamta, who started his political journey at the young age of 23, contested nine elections and strengthened his position in politics by winning six.

His political career began in 1996 when he was elected as a District Panchayat member and later in the same year became the District Panchayat Vice President.In 2002, Someshwar stood as an independent candidate from the Tamta assembly election but did not win. However, in 2007, he again contested the elections on BJP ticket and successfully entered Dehradun Assembly.

In 2009, he made his first attempt in the Lok Sabha elections but missed the victory. He achieved his first legislative success in 2012 by winning the assembly seat from Someshwar. Recognizing his potential, the party nominated him for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, where he won.He repeated his success in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a record margin.

Tamta has served as a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2012 and again from 2012 to 2014. He has also served as a Minister in the Government of Uttarakhand, Cabinet Minister and Minister of State during 2008 - 2009. 2007-2008.

He served as the Union Minister of State for Textiles in the first Modi government.
