BJP's Mukesh Dalal was declared the winner from Surat on the last day of withdrawal of nominations after Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination was rejected by the RO, while other candidates withdrew their names.

The counting process will be monitored by 56 counting observers, 30 election officers and 175 assistant election officers. Additionally, 615 Assistant Election Officers have been assigned responsibilities for postal ballots and Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS).

“The third randomization of counting staff will be done on Tuesday at 5 am in the presence of observers. “Entry into the counting centers will be strictly regulated, and only authorized persons, including officials accredited by the Election Commission of India, on-duty staff, candidates, their polling agents and counting agents, will be allowed entry,” An officer said.

Tight three-tier security arrangements have been made at all counting centres, while local police will manage security outside the counting centers and SRPF will be deployed at various locations.

CAPF personnel will guard the doors of counting centers and strong rooms, where no unauthorized person will be allowed to enter.

To ensure the integrity of the counting process, electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets or laptops will not be allowed inside the counting centres.

Exceptions will be given only to ECI supervisors and authorized persons with prior permission.

Use of mobile phones will be restricted to designated media centers and public communication rooms within the counting center premises.
