Narayanpur/Bijapur: Three security personnel were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur and Bijapur districts on Friday, police said.

Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were injured in an explosion in Narayanpur district and a police District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel was injured in Bijapur, he said.

An official said that a team of 53rd battalion of ITBP was on area domination operation near Kutul village under Kohkametta police station area, when around 6.30 am, two soldiers came in contact with the IED.

He said both suffered superficial injuries in the blast and were taken to hospital, where their condition is said to be out of danger.

Another official said that the explosion took place in the forest near Bandepara village under Farsegarh police station area in Bijapur.

A joint team of DRG, Bastar Fighters and Special Task Force, all units of the state police and CRPF's elite CoBRA unit had set out on an operation in a national park area, he said.

The officer said DRG jawan Lachhu Kadti came in contact with an IED, which exploded, injuring him.

He said that a search operation is going on in the area.
