Chandigarh, Punjab Police on Thursday said they have arrested three people linked to gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar and stopped possible targeted killings in the state.

Those arrested have been identified as Karandeep Singh alias Kannu of Navi Basti, Maur Mandi, Raghuveer Singh and Kulwinder Singh alias Bittu, residents of Kot Shameer village in Bathinda.

The Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Punjab Police, Bathinda, has prevented possible targeted killings in the state with the arrest of three persons in a joint operation with Bathinda Police.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that these people were associated with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar.

Based on intelligence that associates of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar were planning to carry out targeted killings in Bathinda, Mohali and surrounding areas, police teams launched an operation and launched a joint operation at Maur Chowk to arrest them. Installed 'Naka' (check barrier). DGP said.

He said the police arrested the three men when they were coming from Maur towards Bathinda in their car and recovered three pistols and other ammunition from their possession.

The DGP said police teams recovered three pistols from their possession, including one 9 mm pistol and two .32 bore pistols, along with six live cartridges and six magazines, besides their car was also seized.

He said, preliminary investigation revealed that accused Kannu was in touch with Lawrence Bishnoi and the recovered weapons were to be used to carry out targeted killings.

“Further investigation is underway to find out the forward and backward links in this case,” Yadav said.

Police teams have identified two more operatives of this module. A police officer said that raids are being conducted to arrest him.
