Jamshedpur: Three people, including two infants, died after they were crushed under the wheels of a goods train near a railway station in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district on Friday.

The accident occurred when the victims – a man, a two-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl – were crossing the tracks near Govindpur Halt station on the outskirts of Jamshedpur city in the early morning.

It appears that they were members of the same family.

Prakash Kumar, officer-in-charge of Govindpur police station, said the three were probably residents of Potka block in East Singhbhum district and efforts were on to identify them.

Govindpur Halt railway station falls under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway.

The bodies were sent to MGM hospital here for post-mortem.
