Imphal, Manipur A police statement said security forces arrested three insurgents and seized sophisticated weapons from Tengnoupal in Kangpokpi district.

It said security forces arrested three valley rebels from Shantong near Lamlong village in Tengnoupal district on June 14.

The statement issued on Monday night also said that "the situation in the state is under control" and security forces are carrying out search operations to maintain law and order.

In a separate search operation conducted on Gangpijang hill range in Kangpokpi district, security forces seized one 7.62 mm AK 56 assault rifle, one PT. 22 rifles, one 12-inch single-bore barrel gun, two improvised projectile launchers, one Chinese hand grenade, one country-made hand grenade, one 51 mm mortar and live ammunition were recovered on Sunday.

The statement also said that police officials from Assam and Manipur held a joint meeting at Jiribam on the Assam-Manipur border on Saturday regarding the prevailing scenario in the area.

Regular patrolling and area dominance has been increased in the entire riverine area of ​​Barak and Jiri rivers.

The statement also appealed to the public to "immediately return the looted weapons, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces."

It said security forces ensured movement of 117 and 378 vehicles carrying essential commodities on NH-37 and NH-2 respectively. Strict security measures are taken at all sensitive locations and security convoys are provided at sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
