Seraikela (Jharkhand): Three people, including a woman and her minor son, were killed and three others injured after lightning struck them in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district, police said.

A police officer said that the incident took place in Bhadudih village of Chandil police station area on Wednesday evening, when the victims were grazing cattle in the field and had taken shelter under a tarpaulin when lightning struck them.

They were taken to a hospital here and during treatment, a 35-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son and a man aged around 40 died.

Three others are undergoing treatment and the condition of one of them is said to be critical.

Local JMM MLA from Ichagarh assembly constituency Sabita Mahato went to the hospital to inquire about the condition of the victims.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, Mahato said that he has spoken to doctors and asked for proper treatment.
