Deoghar (Jharkhand): At least three people died and eight others were injured after a two-storey building collapsed under debris in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Sunday. The officers provided this information.

He said that the rescue operation, which started at 6 in the morning, ended at around 4 in the evening.

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishal Sagar said 11 people were trapped under the debris after a building collapsed in the city this morning.

"Local people rescued four children. We immediately deployed a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, which pulled out seven people from under the debris," Sagar said.

All seven people were taken to Deoghar Sadar Hospital and doctors at the health facility "declared three of them brought dead", he said.

The DC said compensation would be provided to the families of the injured and the deceased as per government norms.

Deoghar civil surgeon Ranjan Sinha said, "Of the seven people taken to the hospital, two were declared dead and a woman succumbed to her injuries. Four others, including a child, are undergoing treatment."

NDRF Inspector Randhir Kumar said the 10-hour-long rescue operation ended around 4.10 pm.
