Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Three people, including a woman, were killed when a sand mine caved in during sand excavation in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Katra Ramkhiriya village of Gosalpur police station area of ​​the district at around 11 am on Wednesday.

According to the police, after getting information about the incident, they reached the spot and took out the victims with the help of JCB and sent them to the hospital where they were declared dead. The deceased were identified as Munni Bai (50), Rajkumar Khatik (25) and Mukesh Basod (35), residents of Katra Ramkhiriya village.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP, Jabalpur) Sonali Dubey told ANI, "Today we received information that some people of Katra Ramkhiriya village of Gosalpur police station area were taking out sand from the Baranu river for the construction of a temple. During this, a mound collapsed. Went." Sand accumulated on one side and it suddenly collapsed, resulting in the death of three people.

He said that further investigation is being done in relation to sand mining and action will be taken against whoever is responsible in the matter.
